Last week I finished my 100 days of progress. A dedicated stretch of time where I focused all my attention to one thing. The Orbit for Creators YouTube channel. But this wasn’t about growing numbers, this was about becoming part of the conversation. Before the summer, and since the launch, I’ve built systems in the background and thought about Orbit as a media business. Consistently asking people, who discovered the channel, to go somewhere else. To sign up for the newsletter or buy a product. While that is necessary for a business it was my biggest mistake. If I had spent all that time and energy on the channel, making everything lead to the videos, it would be in a very different place. That’s why I switched what my goal was. With the end of those 100 days being Press Publish NYC, I didn’t care if I had 1000 subs or 10.000 but, I wanted people to know who I am. A very fuzzy target but one that I’ve reached. In the last couple months
but more than anything I gained clarity. With every finished season of content, I gain a better understanding of who this show is for and what it is about. After Season 2 I knew my core audience are solo creators. And that is who I focused on since then. Completing Season 3 (and a trip to New York) clarified what the show is about. Success.
