Insights from the creator economy, traditional media and business for creators

No, seriously?
At some point you decided to get emails from me and since last September I’ve been sidelining you.

I’m sorry for that.

Personally I’ve unsubscribed from 90% of newsletters and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve done the same.
Because right now it feels like we’re all seeing waaay toooo much “content” and nothing actually makes a difference.

So is this just adding to the noise or can I actually give you context for your journey through this constantly changing media landscape?

You probably don’t know that about me but this year is my 20 year anniversary working in media.
I know that’s hard to believe.

But in this time I worked on live TV productions, made music videos, movies and corporate films to finally arrive in the creator economy.

So here is my pitch to you:

What if I send you one short email each week that gives you a clear actionable insight into the
creator economy, traditional media and the business side of it all?

Because the reality of “making it” as a creator is quite easy.

Consistently make good content that people like to consume.

But making good content is not enough to thrive in this ecosystem.

What the best creators mastered is combining creativity with business acumen and constantly reinventing themselves without becoming weird.

So that is what I want to offer you. A proven way you can level up one of these areas. So you can become the creator you are destined to be.

Let me know how that sounds to you

💛 Valentin

This month in Orbit

I love running experiments.

In May I probably attempted my most ambitious experiment yet.

I wanted to answer the question: what happens if I publish 2 videos a week?

On the surface not much changed. The baseline views stayed stable and the subscribers fluctuated a bit more but not significantly.

But if you paid attention you already know I did not fully followed through with the experiment. After week two I called it.

Because of two reasons. A) Life.

While I figured out that I can make two videos a week, I also noticed how dramatically it impacts my life. Not leaving any free time. Obviously that’s no good.

B) Quality.

I had a strategy session with Tapakapa to learn about his research process. That turned into 4 hours of deeply nerding out about the current state of YouTube and a back and forth about quality vs quantity. While we both have firm opinions on it, it made me stop and choose quality for the videos I have on my docket.

Thank you

to everyone who responded to my coaching offer and respect to everyone that unsubscribed because of it.
I totally get it. 😇

There is still one spot open for next month if you want guidance on your path out of the messy middle.

But if you just want to hang out with other weirdos like me come join us on June 4th for the next creator trust club call.

See you next week?
